Dr Geoff Walker joined Queensland University of Technology’s Electrical Power Engineering group as an Associate Professor in 2013. His current research interests lie in applying power electronics to applications in renewable energy (especially solar power), power systems, and electric vehicles.
From 2008 to 2013, he worked as a senior electrical engineering consultant in Aurecon's Transmission and Distribution group, Brisbane, across various areas including railway electrification, the electricity distribution sector, and renewable energy project design and review.
Geoff was a key design engineer for the UQ 1.2MW PV installation at St. Lucia, the 3.3 MW array at UQ Gatton, and the renewable energy power system in the Sir Samuel Griffith Building, Nathan.
Geoff received his PhD from UQ in 1999, and was the power electronics lecturer there from 1998 to 2007. Geoff has also worked in and maintains an active interest in the pro-audio and industrial electronics sectors.
