Dietmar is a biomedical engineer, an educator, an inventor, and a creator of new intellectual property opportunities. He directs the Centre in Regenerative Medicine and the Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre in Additive Biomanufacturing at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), a multidisciplinary team of researchers including engineers, cell biologists, polymer chemists, clinicians, and veterinary surgeons. He is an internationally recognized leader in the fields of biomaterials, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine with expertise in commercialization. Dietmar's research efforts have resulted in traditional scientific/academic outputs as well as pivotal commercialization outcomes. His efforts have resulted in a publication record of more than 300 journal articles, editorship of 14 books, contributor of 50 book chapters and over 500 conference papers, with an aggregated citation record of more than 28,000 citations and an h-index of 78 in Scopus. He is an inventor on more than 20 patents and a founder of the spin off companies Osteopore International, Progensis, BellaSeno GmbH, Vaccine Solutions, GELOMICS and Biofabrication Design Solutions.
